"Has anyone downloaded and played my Battle of Britain historical
flights set? I want to know if it is a satisfying gaming experience for
you. I recently purchased a svga, EAW and have found that although it
looks
great it flys like @#$%. The enemy are unrecognizeable until its too
late.
The machine gun had a slight delay in firing and i cant hit jack. Maybe
my 166 is too slow to run it, nevertheless I have returned to BOB and
SWOTL.
Some minor mistakes i have made are that on a certain day you get and
introductory
flight in a MARK 2a Spitfire. After this day obviously they should all
be Mark 2's. A few flights later there are Mark 1's. So please use your
own Mission Builder to correct this. EAW has the massive amount of
Bombers
and Fighters that were in the air on the days. Of course BOB is limited
to 16 or so planes altogether nevertheless i find the way I've and
Lucasarts
programmed the bomber waves behavior much more realistic. i don't know
but it seems that when I got a higher MHZ computer the planes got
smarter
and they would break when the lead man got shot up then regroup and re
attack. Once again, the flight characteristics are very realistic in
BOB.
When I flick roll my bird up into a stall it does two and a half turns
and stalls into a perfect reattack mode. I've read that this is really
how the spit behaved in battle and so i will contine to play Bob."

Of course multiplayer and other stuff also could be added. I only
wonder
if a sequel that is worth the 1st version is ever possible. You cannot
just re-write SWOTL. Now you have to write a new one. And there are
only
two ways: do a great remake or screw it up. I say most of time they
blow
it but there are certain examples of very successful sequels. There's a

you should try WW2 Fighters. And when you do think of SWOTL!"

"Since i've upgraded to a 450mhz mother i have had the opportunity
to buy almost all of the "new" flight Simulators. Damn hit return
again!!!!!
Let me say that now that my computer can run it European Air War is
excellent.
As far as flight model selections go and realism it is tops. I added a
program that chanes the airspeeds of the models to simulate over 120
other
aircraft. On the down side the airplanes still all look the same. Then
I bought Jane's, that was an enjoyable one too, the most realistic flak
bursts and damn good graphics too, my crummy monitor can't display it
except
in quick flight mode so I have had to erase it. All in all good
especially
in the weapons and bomb selection area although i find how the cockpit
shimmies when you use the rudder makes it hard to line up on ground
targets,
I'n P-38. Then I noticed a already used Fighter Squadron by Activision
on the shelf for 7.99. To me it is the best one. Although the flight
model
are few and there aren't as many flights the scenery is ultra realistic
and the clouds are ultra realistic, wind was noticeable and you have to
re-trim. Also I needed Mo'slo to run this one slower as 450 was to darn
fast. Then I got Microsoft Combat Flight Sim. This one is worth the
money
too, Best Buy had it on special for 19.99. You have to re-assign alot
of
the keys but once it is done it is quite fun. There is a mission editor
for it but it is on a Excel spreadsheet and has me stymied. Stall
characteristics
are totally real and enjoy going into tailspins except when at low
altitude.
All in all EAW is the best rounded and has realistic gun patterns,
Fighter
Squadron has realistic gun sounds and awsome scenery and the best
shootdown
sequences, Jane's is good too though you are relegated to the Battle of
the Bulge. Combat flight sim actually is very complete too, even my
wished
for sub mission is present, a better mission builder would make it
probably
the best. Anyways, and I'm braggin, nobody has as a complete Battle Of
Britain campaign as you can find here so don't forget ol Swotl and Bob
yet!!!!!"

"Well, I took the plunge. Just placed my order for Air Combat
Classics
today. Mind you, it'll be a while until I get it since it'll have to be
sent to me via Canada as LucasArts won't ship outside the US/Canada and
my German is a little rusty (the only place in Europe where you can get
ACC is from Germany - but with a German manual)!"

"I just would like to say thanks to everyone involved in this
fantastic
website for keeping the best flight sim ever alive! SWOTL was the first
game I brought when I brought my first PC. In fact the whole reason for
me buying a PC back then was so I could play SWOTL. Prior to my PC I
had
an Amiga and I had played BOB on that for many months. Then when I saw
an add for SWOTL coming out on the PC I was very excited as I first
thought
it would be eventually converted to the Amiga. But alas it was not so
instead
I sold the Amiga and went to the PC. Well thats how it all begain for
me.
Not long after I had brought the game I then purchased all the add on
disks
for it as well. Even after all these years I still enjoy the game
emensly!!
However tragic struck for me two years ago when my DO355 add on disk
was
stolen from me. But since then thanks to Brad who I found through your
guestbook mailed me his copy of the add on disk along with Air Combat
Classics
that he did not want anymore. I was so lucky to get it back again and I
am once again so grateful to Brad and your website for allowing me to
get
the add on disk back again. Now I will never let them leave my sight
again:)!
BTW if anyone else out there needs help in obtaining the game or add on
disks please let me know via email at ericasnow@hotmail.com as I would
only be to happy to make a copy for you. I also have the CD ROM Version
and Air Combat Classics as well. Thanks once again guys for this
fantastic
website!!!!!!"
