done yet but after programming, then having to replay, losing track of
what flight I was on, and having to work, plus test flying and
reprogramming
so it acts as i intended, plus reviewing airfields and trying to
ascribe
the right planes to the different fields, well its a bit time
consuming.
An added bonus for your patience is that I have about 25 custom flights
that I made, short well aimed bursts are the key to survival here as in
some you will have to shoot down around 20 airplanes. Well enough for

"I remember when in October, 1997 I discovered this site while "net
surfing", and was so happy to see that one of my most favorite games is
still out there, and very much alive, indeed flourishing. Since then, I
have not had a chance to download any of the great files on this site
because
I don't have my own computer in the USA, and my own computer back home
(Cairo, Egypt) has a defective internet connection. But I promised
myself
that the first thing I would do when I buy my new computer here (that's
Boston, USA), I would visit this site and download files, missions,
aircraft
and all kinds of goodies to my heart's content! Visiting this site time
and again brings back memories of the good old days when I used to play
this game all summer, trying to make my characters advance in their
score,
and get more medals. When one of my favorite characters a Luftwaffe
Major,
flying an Me262 against a B-17 formation, was shot down by a surprise
attack
by P-51s, I was so shaken I refused to eat or sleep for the following
two
days!! That, my friends is the power of a game this good. One becomes
so
involved in the game to the extent that one indeed no longer feels the
distinction between reality and the world of SWOTL. To me, they are one
and the same. Since that fateful day when the Major was shot down, I
have
fostered many other characters, and they have surpassed his record. But
his memory lives, and although his comrades are aging on my hard drive,
neither they nor I can wait for the day when we can once more spring
into
the skies, and prove that we worthy of the honor of wearing our wings!!
Thank you SWOTL for enriching my life, and making me live my dreams."
[Thanks for sharing that all with us. You know
you can get all the files via disk, and not have to download them!

"One item, possibly,of interest to flight sim fans is that I was
privilged to fly the B-2 flight simulator at close-by Whiteman AFB. It
was a real kick. The B-2 pilots say it 98-99% accurately simulates a
flight.
Of course it is full motion and you feel some G's as you rotate off the
runway, bank, etc. It flys via a stick rather than yoke is amazingly
agile
for a bomber. The cockpit is right on the nose up front and your
looking
right down on the runway. Sort of the feeling of sitting in a van or VW
bus with no nose in front. Our left seat and instructor for the flights
was Capt. Paul Tibbets the grandson of the famous Enola Gay Paul
Tibbits
and founder of the 509th which is the B-2 wing at WAFB. In fact he was
the only one who could hook up with the tanker for in-flight refueling;
which is understandable since he has to do it, occassionly,in real
life.
The only unusual characteristics I noticed about the B-2 was the fact
that
you can't flare on landing or you'll float right on over the runway
(because
of ground effect and the fact that the aircraft is all wing). You have
to press the nose gear right down onto the pavement but not from too
high
or you'll blow a tire as I did on the first flight. The only other
thing
I noticed was quite a bit of turbulence when I dropped the gear for my
second landing but I believe that may have been because they set me up
with a night flight with some cross wind to contend with. I'm waiting
for
my ACC pkg to arrive, I've got Mo'Slo Deluxe and a 300Mhz PentII and
hope
can get Swotl run ok. Love Flight Unltd II.!!"

a great add-on...Does this exist anywhere in another game, maybe?"
[You'd have to ask the designers, but I imagine
it's due to the fact that by the time setting of the game, the 110s
were
not used as much. You can try TFH:BOB or get a "custom" 110 from this
site.

flight-sims with modern jets. Which is probably why I'll never forget
SWOTL,
which I bought way back in '90 and played feverishly. The game was
great
fun, especially the German planes. The awe-inspiring instruction book,
with all the historical information, made me a closet WWII aircraft
admirer
and got me to sit down and watch documentaries about the air war. I had
so much fun flying the bombers (flying them in SWOTL was far more fun
than
playing them in any other game, even if the game was dedicated to
piloting
them only) that it inspired me to write my high school term paper on
the
effects of bombing on the German war machine (I even used the SWOTL
manual
as a source...got an A+ to boot!). I haven't played the game in about 6
years, but after finding this site, I may try to hunt down a copy of it
